The RM of Portage la Prairie's concerned about a conservation agreement that Ducks Unlimited is planning to sign with a property owner just south of Delta, on the east side of Highway 240.

Reeve Kam Blight says Council's concerned about drainage through that property.

"Because there is wording in the agreement that speaks to no drainage," he says, "So we want to make sure that any agricultural producers in the area are not going to be adversely effected, in the sense that water's backing up, and the water on their property's not able to get away as it naturally or normally should, through this property. So, we're just looking for a little clarification on that to make that everyone's covered."

Blight stresses they understand the situation with the property.

"It's primarily marsh land," he says, "However, there's agricultural land right in that area that does have natural drains that are flowing into the marsh. So we're looking for some information, and we'll go from there."
