The Rural Municipality of Rockwood Council gave a second and third reading of the Stony Mountain Rockwood Sensitive Area Sewer System Project.

RM of Rockwood Reeve Jim Campbell says the project came about years ago by the province due to some serious water contamination.

"This system was put in years ago by the province when there was a chemical spill that got into the aquafir," says Campbell.

The reeve notes it is generally a standard that when you hook up a sewer and water system in an area, everyone has to hook up.

"You have to disconnect your well if you have a well from the municipal system, incase you get cross contamination," Campbell says.

Campbell notes people were allowed to use the water from the system at a flate rate and now it's all metered and some people didn't really want to use it anymore.

He says it's enforced to hook up for safety reasons, and there is no hook up fee, just the metered water fee.
