The PCI Saints finished up a great performance against Kelvin yesterday evening in Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League action.

The girls put Kelvin to the test, winning the game 7-2. Saints coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says she's happy the hard work the girls are putting in is paying off.

"It was nice to see the girls finally get rewarded with some goals," Clark-Gillespie says. "We talked about keeping the intensity up, and they did that."

Clark-Gillespie explains the girls have been hard at work trying to improve their game, and it showed with clean passes and smart defensive play. PCI managed to score their first two goals in the first period, and from there it was full steam ahead.

"We were moving the puck well, and defensively the girls were playing a lot smarter," explains Clark-Gillespie. "We were very crisp tonight, the passes were there and the
forecheck was really good."

Clark-Gillespie notes the team has been working on capitalizing on rebounds and credits their success in front of the net as a contributing factor to their victory.

"We were working on having more net presence, on practice last week we worked on trying to get that high tip and redirects and getting more shots from the blue line," says
Clark-Gillespie.

Net presence and rebounds are some areas where the Saints struggled in the past, but last night's game shows their hard work is paying off. Clark-Gillespie adds the team is in
good spirits after their victory.
