Some huge free throws down the stretch sealed the win for the Portage Saints Monday night at Portage Collegiate.

The Saints were winners over the Tec Voc Hornets 56-52 in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Basketball action.

With 38.7 seconds left in the 4th quarter, the Hornets elected to foul and send Alexis Kennedy to the charity stripe. She would make both. The Hornets fouled her again about ten seconds later, and she would make 1-of-2.

"It felt good, because I knew that I had to make them. If not, they could have came back and beat us," says Kennedy. "I feel really good because coming into this game, we knew it would be a tough battle, and we came out and won in the end."

Zoe Murray led the Saints with 13 points, while Abby Vanstone added 11. Alexis Kennedy made 5-of-6 free throws throughout the game, finishing with 7 points.

The Saints travel to Winnipeg on Wednesday to battle the Shaftesbury Titans.
