PCI Saints opened the 2017-18 Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League season with a win on the road yesterday.

They scored a 3-2 shootout win over Oak Park Raiders.

After a scoreless overtime period, Maddie Shwaluk's goal in the shootout was the difference, and coach Joanne Clarke-Gillespie describes the shootout.

"Oak Park scored with their first shooter," she says, "And then we tied it up on a beauty, top shelf, by Kiera (Shwaluk). Oak Park's next shooter was stopped on a great save by 'tender Morgan Klassen. Maddie (Shwaluk) scored another for us, and then Klassen shut the door on the third shooter, to secure the season-opening win for us."

Maddie Shwaluk also scored in regulation time for the Saints, with another from Kiera Shwaluk. Morgan Klassen got the win in goal.
