The Portage School Board has said no to school bus shelters for students along the former Victoria School Route.

A request was made for the shelters at the December 13th meeting.

Board Chair Charles Morrison says they don't feel shelters are necessary, but it doesn't mean it's a dead issue. It's been referred to the operations committee to be monitored for the rest of the year.

Morrison points out a letter was sent to the people making the request, and no responses have come in so far.

He adds students are expected to dress for the weather because they'll be outside before and after school, at recess, and at lunch.

Morrison notes this is the first year they've provided busing within the city.
