The Shindleman Aquatic Centre's been undergoing roof repairs for a few months now. But David Sattler, Portage Regional Recreation Authority General Manager, says there's good news.

Work continues with the roof"I would say there's light at the end of the tunnel," says Sattler. "I know the first thing that everyone's going to want to know is when are we hoping to open. We are looking and aiming for Christmas Break. Christmas Break's one of our busiest times of the year. The schedule allows that that'll probably be the time of the year that the construction has been completed. That's what we're working on right now -- the assumption that we will open during Christmas holidays."

He explains once they close the chapter on roof repairs, they then have to deal with the legal issues behind the faulty construction.

Sattler notes the completion of the roof's a huge step forward, and just seeing the old roof visibly removed and the one installed is very encouraging.

Sattler notes swimming lessons will likely commence the second week of January with similar schedules as previously posted. The Swim Club will also be contacted to coordinate with their programming as well. He says new aquatic programming is also being targeted to see people who haven't been using the pool before to get involved, including Aqua Spin classes and Aqua Yoga, etc.
