Two locals are still going strong in their campaign to support Central Plains Cancer Services. Vic and Iona Pople have been canvassing for over 15 years for the organization.

Vic has recently turned ninety and has had a few types of cancer, currently battling throat cancer. His wife Iona says as they get older, they still want to contribute.

"When you get older, you can't do a lot of other things, so you can help people in this way. There's such a great need for help with different things with cancer. Just about every family seems to be touched by cancer," says Pople.

CPCS Executive Director Sharilyn Knox says the Poples have campaigned every January for over a decade, and their efforts don't go unnoticed.

"We just appreciate community members who go to these extra lengths to help us bring in funds to help us run our programs. They have brought in well over $150,000 to our organization throughout the years," Knox says.

The couple is canvassing at Co-op today and tomorrow for the majority of the day, collecting cash for cancer.
