RCMP responded to a break-in located in the Minitonas area on Tuesday, where power tools and other items were stolen.

Later that day, March 12, officers attended a residence in Minitonas, attempting to arrest a suspect responsible for other property crime offences. The male suspect came to the door, and while officers were placing him under arrest, they noticed power tools and other items associated with the break-in.

According to police, a further investigation linked the 17-year-old to multiple other property crime investigations.

The next day, while being transferred from RCMP custody, the suspect attempted to flee out a door but was caught immediately.

The 17-year-old  has been charged with:

  • Escape Lawful Custody
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Mischief x2
  • Theft x2
  • Break and Enter

He was remanded into custody. Swan River RCMP continue to investigate.
