Portage Collegiate's Team Olafson is looking to return home with a provincial championship on Sunday.

The squad is competing in The Pas over the next three days against the best high school curling teams in the province. Skip Colton Olafson says he's excited about the opportunity to put up another banner in the PCI gymnasium.

"That's definitely our goal going into this," Olafson explains. "I think we have a really good shot against all these teams."

Team Olafson is made up of four 16-year-olds, Hunter Jefferies, Tristan Blight, Nolan Ross, along with Olafson. This group attended the Provincial Junior Curling Championships in Portage a few weeks ago and ended up making the playoff rounds.

While they were defeated in the quarter-finals, Olafson believes this experience has prepared them very well for the next three days in The Pas. He describes what they'll have to do to win it all.

"I think it's just about staying focused for every game," Olafson continues. "We can't get too ahead of ourselves and just have to stay focused on the game we're playing."

This will be the last event of the year for Team Olafson, and the skip says they're going to make sure to cherish the moment.

"I think we've come a long way. We definitely improved our game this year. We had some losses at the beginning but we've come really far from that."

The group of Portagers earned a bye in the first round of the tournament for finishing as one of the top four teams in the rankings.

Team Olafson's first game will go down today at 2:00 when they take on the winner of this morning's matchup between the Tech Voc Hornets and Margaret Barbour Spartans.
