Last night at the Portage Regional Library Terrie Todd launched her third book entitled Bleak Landing.

Line-up for autographs"This is a story of an Irish immigrant who comes to Canada as a young child," says Todd. "Her mother dies during the voyage, and she's left in this little fictional town in Manitoba called Bleak Landing. She has a drunk and abusive father in the middle of the great depression."

book coverShe explains the story begins with the main character trapped in an outhouse, which is a metaphor of her life. She escapes, moves on and makes something of herself, only to return to Bleak Landing again. Several historical events take place, taking the reader through World War 2 and her life afterward.

Many guests attended the launch and enjoyed the pie and music, as well as submitted their names for prizes.
