The Portage Terriers are back on home ice tonight as they welcome the MJHL's best team to Stride Place. This will be the first meeting of the season between the Terriers and Dauphin Kings.

The Dogs enter this game on their longest win streak of the season, which is three games. Forward Austin McLean talks about what they'll have to do to extend that to four.

"We have to keep playing to the game plan and sticking with it," says McLean. "If we play a full 60 minutes, I feel like we'll have a good chance to beat them."

The Kings are also on a winning streak of their own as they have victories in their last six outings and have only lost a total of four games all season. On top of having the best record in the league, Dauphin also has the league's best power-play and penalty-killing units.

This will be a tough task for the Terriers, but since the additions of forwards Nathan Flodell, Kyle Grysiuk, and Mason Smith, the Dogs have looked like a brand new team. Smith scored the overtime winner in their last matchup and outlines what their mentality will be heading into tonight's game.

"I think we have to just clear our heads as it's a new game," Smith explains. "We'll have to forget about these last two wins, they were great for us, but we need to reset for this one."

Terrier team captain Logan Calder played well in the MJHL Showcase this past week and extended his point streak to 12 games, which is now the longest streak to take place in the league this season. The Portager has put up nine goals and dished out five assists for 14 points over the 12-game span.

The Dogs and Kings will be in action tonight at 7:30 and they will faceoff again in Dauphin tomorrow night.
