It was a rough night and a few slow stretches for the MJHL's Portage Terriers at Stride Place, as they entered the third period down 2-1 to Virden. The Dogs' single goal came from Chase Brakel, assisted by James McIsaac and McKenzie Dwyer. Two more goals came from the Oil Capitals in the third period, both with under three minutes on the clock, making the final score 4-1. Paul Harland is assistant coach for the Terriers and says the loss came from a lack of energy.

"We lacked a little bit of intensity for most of the night," explains Harland. "We had some periods of the game where we were good, then we had some periods in the game where we weren't very good at all. They got two quick ones on us and we weren't really ready. We still had a chance late but we just didn't play hard enough for 60 minutes tonight."

He say's an early save might have made the difference.

"I think we needed a save early, and we didn't get that," says Harland. "We needed to stick around the net a little more and be a little more intense on some plays. We were a little lackadaisical in some areas of the game tonight."
