The Portage Terriers are sending a local defenceman to the SJHL. The Dogs are shipping off Kian Calder to the Estevan Bruins in exchange for forward Brenden Holba and future considerations.

Calder has two goals so far this season and accumulated 7 points in 14 games with the Terriers. The 19-year-old defenceman will have just one more season of junior hockey eligibility after this year.

Holba, being a 2003 born player, will have an extra year he can spend on the Portage roster. The Regina, Saskatchewan product has played in just one game at the junior hockey level and has yet to put up a point. The forward is listed at 5’9 and 185 pounds and head coach and general manager Blake Spiller describes him as a hard-working and physical player.

The dogs have also traded future considerations to the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for Daron Cyr.

The Terriers are in action tonight in Winnipeg as they take on the Blues at 7:30.
