On your marks, get set, go! The Central Plains Cancer Services (CPCS) 24-Hour Relay has officially started at the Central Plains Rec Plex!

Thirty-eight teams have one goal: raise money for the Care for Kids Fighting Cancer Program through CPCS.

Beckie Verwey, a coordinator for the event, says being able to put this on again means the world!

"We are so excited this year; the community has exceeded our expectations. We have 16 more teams than last year, plus our five schools on board. There is so much energy in the building live with our DJ here. So just a lot of fun to be had."

She mentions that they were able to fill all of the twenty-four hours with businesses and community members stepping up to the plate.

"So exciting for us as a family. I never could have imagined this kind of outpouring of support from the community, and it just is fulfilling to see it become what it has."

Verwey wants to remind the Central Plains area that every dollar counts and stays right here for the kids within our communities.

She notes that she is the most excited to see how much money they will be able to raise this year and, of course, to see all of the creative costumes.
