Fans of flight will be blown away next August when the Manitoba Airshow takes off in Southport. Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. made the announcement today, and Executive Director Peggy May notes they will be celebrating 100 years of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in style.

"In addition to the military and civilian aerial performers, there's going to be beer gardens. There'll be static displays, a lot of family fun stuff," says May. "The community's going to love this event."

May recognizes a lot of work will need to be done and they are hoping you'll consider helping out.

"When we hosted our last air show, we had over 400 volunteers. Portage la Prairie is such a wonderful place to come out and support events all over the city," says May. "We will have everything listed on the website. There's volunteers for the beer gardens, for parking, for VIP tents, for so many things. There's also a lot of opportunity for sponsorships for different areas on site."

The Snowbirds will fly over Southport this afternoon to celebrate the announcement. The Manitoba Airshow will take place August 3rd - 4th, 2024.
