Portagers are noticing an increase in traffic along Saskatchewan Avenue.

It's because vehicles that normally would use the Portage By-pass are being re-routed. The east overpass has been closed by the Department of Infrastructure for repairs.

A spokesperson says some movement of "flexing" has been detected.
It's not known how long the overpass will be closed.

Heavy trucks requiring wide or over-height permits are advised to use Highway 2 as an alternative.

The Infrastructure Department stresses this isn't connected to the overpass collapse in Laval, Quebec last weekend.
