The Zone 4 high school baseball season is just around the corner for the Portage Collegiate Trojans.

Head coach Jay Dewis says they're eager to get going. "Yeah, we're excited about the year obviously. We had a great year last year, so it will just be about preparing well and hitting the ground running this year."

He says the team lost 3 key players but they have 11 returning players who he expects to play big roles to fill the void. The team has added 3 new players but he thinks they'll fit in nicely.

Last year the team won provincials so Dewis says, "Expectations are high but we'll just go through the year as a process and take it game by game and hopefully we improve throughout the year and peak at the right time."

The team has been practising for 3 weeks and looks to be ready to go for opening day which is set to kick off on April 26th at home against Sanford.
