Team Randy Neufeld is Manitoba's Senior Men's Provincial Champions and has now qualified for the national event next month. Oakville's own Dean Moxham is the team's third and says while he has won provincial championships before, it never loses the magic because the competition is so high.

"Age-wise, we're now on the other end of the scale compared to when we first started. We were all 5-7 years younger but even though we're a little bit older now, the desire is still there," says Moxham. "It was a good field this weekend, and it was good to come out with a win. We're looking forward to the trip."

Team Neufeld defeated Team Ray Baker 7-4 in the final match, and Moxham says they had to make a bit of a comeback.

"He got off to a good start. He got a couple of points on us in the first end but we were able to come right back with a two and then a steal of two, which kind of brought the momentum back on our side," Moxham explains. "I thought we played pretty solid the rest of the way and finished it off nicely in the eighth end. It was great."

That victory secured Neufeld's team the chance to represent Manitoba at the 2021 Everest Canadian Seniors' Curling Championship. Moxham says they are very excited to take part in the national event.

"It's in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, starting on December 6 and goes for six days," says Moxham. "Not too sure about the competition and who's involved in it yet but I'm sure it'll be a fun battle."

The team has been together for quite a few years and also features Portager Dale Michie. Both Michie and Moxham have been curling in around Portage for decades. This is the third time they have won the provincial senior crown as they had won two straight before Brandon’s Murray Warren won back in 2017. The champs have been playing together for seven years and were Silver Medalists at the 2016 Senior Men's World Championships.
