With the race for City Council changing everyday, the RM of Portage election race has been quietly picking up steam.  Two candidates have announced they'll be running for wards 1 and 7 respectively.  Running for Councilor in Ward 1 is Garth Asham.  Although Asham hasn't ever let his name stand in municipal elections before he's confident he'll be able to garner support through touching base with voters.
Among Asham's priorities are road repairs and the inclusion of St. Ambroise in the Cartier Regional Water System.  Another new comer to seek election is Roy Patterson, he made the announcement he'd be running for Ward 7 this morning.  He admits he's unsure of what to expect, however he has had positive feedback from friends and family on his decision to run.
