Portage Plains United Way's fundraising campaign was helped out in a major way yesterday thanks to a donation from Portage Mutual.

United Way Executive Director Pamela Lotun says they received a cheque for $5,000, noting it's not very often that they receive such large donations.

"So it's really nice to see that they're thinking of us and that they feel that United Way is deserving of a large donation like that," says Lotun.

She adds Portage Mutual has been making large donations to the organization for a number of years now and they're fortunate to be able to count on the support.

The $5,000 will go toward helping the United Way's member agencies.
