Splash Island is super busy this week. Free swim and a pool party! Learn more below!

Sorry kids, but we're down to a week and a half left before school starts up again. Isn't that neat.. so too are the various events going on this week.

- Lots of sports registrations. Find the dates for everything here.

- Blood, it's in you to give! It's also really easy to do and there's a blood donor clinic happening Monday (Aug 29) from 3-8 at Canad Inns. Honestly, can't see them saying they've received too much blood since there's always a great need for it so make sure to stop by and do your part.

- Those pesky mosquitoes are still hanging around. To combat Manitoba's tiniest nuisance the City of Portage will be fogging Monday (Aug 29) and Tuesday (Aug 30) night from 9:30pm to 6am. All areas south of the railway tracks will be fogged Monday night while all areas north of the tracks, and also included will be Koko Platz, Mellenvile, and Old Bridge Road.

- Another farmer's market is happening on Wednesday (Aug 31) at Convention Corner. Mmmm, local corn and other goodies.

- Free & Swim. They go together like PB&J and the final free swim night of the summer at Splash Island goes Wednesday (Aug 31) from 6-9pm.

- Speaking of Splash Island... Portage Plains United Way is wrapping up the summer with their End of Summer Pool Party! That's Friday (Sept 2) night with all proceeds going to their campaign goal. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for youth. Going with the family? Then they've got a deal for you! $15 gets two adults and two youth in. Swimming, music, dancing and food, be sure to check it out.

- Apparently, the United Way are busy folks. They're doing a chip sale starting September 1. So whether you just like chips or you want to start thinking of school lunches or dare I say, Halloween, give em a call at 204-857-4440.

- The final day for the Central Juried Art exhibit is on Saturday (Sept 3) so get on down there to see some of the finest works of art around.

- Fish are friends, not food. Sportsman Corner is hosting their annual September-long fishing derby Sunday (Sept 4) & Monday (Sept 5) with a chance at some great prizes. $15 entry fee with the moolah going to Childrens' Wish.
