Now that fall is here and winter is approaching possibly faster than we thought, as some surrounding areas may have received snow earlier this week.

You may be wondering what to do with your garden. Shea Doherty, Operations Manager at Our Farm Greenhouse, says that there are lots of things that you can do to help your plants this winter. Even if you are afraid that some little critters may be on the rise there is a solution.

"If you're scared of pests, what I would recommend is a product called Endall, and I would spray them three times every five days. So, spray them once when you bring them in, give it five days for him again give it five days then spray again, and then that should clean up any pests that are on them for you."

He notes that although some plants may be done however some are also fully "awake".

"We've already seen the trees start to drop their leaves with frost we had last week, so they're going to sleep. A lot of the perennials won't be going to sleep quite yet they're getting cold, but they're not getting frost, so they're not going totally to sleep."

If you have any outdoor tropical plants, Doherty says that this is the perfect time to bring them inside. He also mentions that although the weather has cooled down that doesn't mean that your gardens are done yet.

"When it comes to vegetables in your garden, carrots and beets are still good up to about minus five, but you want to get them out after that. The first three frost’s is perfect for your carrot I still have mine in the garden just because I want them to get a good, sweet taste into the carrots, so I'll leave him till the 3rd frost"

He concludes by saying that this gardening season went wonderfully, and we should be set up pretty well for the next season.
