The first round of the Tiger Hills Hockey League playoffs is winding down this weekend and the MacGregor Wild will not be advancing.

After a strong regular season (9-5-3), the Wild found themselves in 5th spot in the East Division, one point behind the Minnedosa Bombers. (10-5-2)

The Wild beat the Bombers both times they played in the regular season and opened up the best of three series with a 6-3 victory Tuesday night. The Bombers didn't cave though and stormed back to win the next two, a 6-0 win in Macgregor Friday and a 5-1 series clinching win on home ice last night. Former WHL and MJHL'er Devon Fordyce turned aside 49 of the 50 shots he faced in the two games to lead the way for the Bombers. Ryan Heino had a two goals (one was the game winner) and an assist for a three point night in game 3. Kelly Rintoul scored the lone goal for the Wild.

Neepawa is hosting Wawanesa in game three of their series at 4 pm Sunday afternoon and with that game the first round of the playoffs will come to an end. The Gladstone Lakers finished tied for top spot in the East Division and received a bye in the opening round.
