The Central Plains Capitals' midget clubs were in pre-season action over the weekend.

The midget men's Capitals were in Beausejour for the Eastman Selects' tournament. They went 0-3 over the weekend, falling to the Winnipeg Thrashers and Pembina Valley Hawks Saturday, and 3-1 to host Eastman yesterday. Caps' head coach Brad Gnidziejko says it's only pre-season, and it's no reason to worry.

"Everybody is building, everybody is trying to see how all the pieces fit together. There are a lot of moving parts, so there's no reason to panic by any means."

Gnidziejko says the low numbers at camp are definitely a double-edged sword.

"On one had we had 22 or 23 kids come to camp. So the low numbers can be a challenge, but at some point the low numbers can benefit you, in that we've actually been into 3 or 4 practices."

The female midget Caps played in Stonewall Saturday night. They won 4-1 over the Interlake Lightning. The men's Caps practice Tuesday, while the women are back on the ice tonight at 8:15.
