The MacGregor Mustangs are the Zone 7 Boy's High School Soccer Champions.

They went undefeated through the regular season and didn't allow a goal against through the playoffs. They won 2-nothing over Minnedosa in the semi-final and took out the Rivers Rams 4-0 in the championship final.

Mustangs' Head Coach Corey May says the team's excited for another shot at provincials.

"The boys are really pumped. We're looking forward to next weekend in Winkler for Provincials. It's been a few years since we've lost a Zone game, so that's pretty common for us, but Provincials is a different story. We always see some tougher competition.

May says every player played a part in their amazing season.

"We have an outstanding goaltender, we're solid all the way through with a very good defensive line. Everyone is contributing, and we have a very strong bench, so we can make subs and it doesn't weaken our team on the field."

Provincials are next weekend in Winkler.

The Mustangs' girls team wasn't able to make it past the semi-final and fell 2-1 in overtime to Neepawa. Girls' Head Coach Jordyn Nicoll says they had a lot of opportunities in extra time but couldn't come away with the win.

"We scored to tied it up later in the game and we played really great -- and really strong -- but they just scored late in the first half of overtime. The girls played really great, even though they had so many chances, they just couldn't put it in the back of the net."

The Mustangs' girls club will lose 7 players to graduation, but Nicholl says they've got a great group of young girls ready to step into bigger roles with the club. She's thrilled with her clubs' effort all season long.
