For the second year in a row, a former Portage Terrier could hear their name called at the NHL Draft.

Regina Pats' forward Nick Henry is taking part in the NHL Combine in Buffalo, New York, this week. The former Terrier had a strong year for his Western Hockey League club and was named the team's Rookie of the Year at the end of the season. Henry's currently ranked 25th amongst North American Skaters in the 2017 Draft Rankings.

"It's pretty special," says Henry. "Coming from Portage and playing for the hometown team as a 16-year-old was a lot of fun, and then making my way to Regina seemed to be a good decision. It is just the North American skaters but it was clearly a successful year."

He finished the regular season with 81 points (35G, 46A) in 72 games played, and 12 points in 22 playoff games. The NHL Combine started Monday and Henry had a couple of meetings on Tuesday. He says they've got a couple of pretty busy days coming up.

"I've got some interviews and testing Friday, and the big fitness testing is on Saturday, then we come home that night. I'm just hoping for the best and I'd really be happy to go wherever, and who knows, maybe in a couple of years I can sign that entry-level deal."

Henry adds it would be pretty cool to be picked by the Winnipeg Jets, but he really just wants to hear his name called.
