Portage Collegiate Institute's hockey clubs are in action tonight in Portage la Prairie.

The PCI Saints are up first for Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey against the Beliveau Barracudas. It's a make-up game from earlier in the season when conditions didn't allow Beliveau to make it to Portage. The Saints took out first place Sturgeon Heights last week and head coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says they need to carry on that style of play from here on out.

"That's going to be a benchmark for us and how we need to play to be successful," says Clark-Gillespie. "It's nice that we'll have some pretty competitive games coming up that will help us gear up for playoffs."

The Saints are a point back of the Huskies and are tied for second place with River East, they're one point ahead of fourth place J H Bruns.

"(The race) is going to go right to the end of the season," laughs Clark-Gillespie. "The regular season ends on the eighth, but we still play on the eighth and ninth, and there's a league meeting on the seventh to discuss playoffs but the standings won't be set until the ninth. We'd like to clinch second place so we can have home-advantage until the finals, but we'll battle as hard as we can and finish as high as we can."

The Saints and Barracudas go at 4 p.m. at the BDO Centre.

Cougars Back For More

The PCI Trojans are on the ice at Stride Place tonight for Zone IV Hockey. They'll look for revenge against the Carman Cougars after falling to them in Portage just one week ago.

"We need a full 60-minute game," says head coach Chris DeLong. "We definitely let them They're a team that we want to be able to play with, and I think that our boys got the message (that we can). We came back with a really strong effort Friday night, and I am hoping we can build on that when we play them (tonight)."

The Trojans have a chance at hosting a playoff spot with the right combination of wins and losses from teams above them in the standings. PCI sits in sixth place right now with four games remaining in their season four points back of Northlands Parkway and five points back of W C Miller.

"Two of the teams above us we play one more time each this season," adds DeLong. "Looking at the standings we will need some help but we do have a possibility of moving up at least one, possibly two. The two teams above us have tough games left too, so we can make a push. More than anything else I want our boys to set the tone for playoffs starting tonight."

The Trojans and Cougars go at 7:30 p.m. at the Stride Place.
