The Portage Golf Club's Annual General Meeting was this week.

Some of the larger highlights from the 2016 season included a jump in membership that saw 10 people take advantage of their first ever payment plan system and an addition of a new storage building on the course. Sharilyn Knox was elected as the first ever female President of the club, and she's excited to be stepping into the new role.

"The maintenance shed we added last year certainly made a difference for our grounds crew with how they did things, and how they protected their equipment from damage and theft. So we're really happy for that."

Knox says they always love to see new members signing up and they had quite a few of those last year, and she'd like to see even more take advantage of the payment plan if they can't afford the full fee at once.

"We're looking forward to a great 2017," adds Knox. "We have a big North American Junior event here in May, so there will be golfers here from all over North America that we're really excited about."

Knox says it's too early to say if anything new will be implemented right away but she's excited to be working with great board members.
