It was a busy first day of action at the Baseball Manitoba Provincial Championships around the province Friday.

The 11U Portage team didn't have the best outing in their first two games of the round robin at the 11U Provincials in Winnipeg. They fell 16-2 to the Bonivital Whitesox and then 15-0 to the Bonivital Redsox in the afternoon. The 11U team is back in action Saturday with two games. They face Swan River at 1:30 p.m. and Neepawa at 6:30 p.m.

It was a tough day for the 13U Portage team as they lost their opening games 21-3 and 13-3. Portage has a couple of games today at the 13U provincials in Altona. They face Altona at 11 a.m. and Strathclair at 4 p.m.

The Bantam team won their opening game on Day 1 over Altona 5-2. They then lost 8-4 to Charleswood in the second. They've got two games Saturday as well. Portage play Hamiota at 8:30 in the morning, and East St. Paul at 1:30.

The 18U Portage team won both of their opening matches. They beat Altona first 11-2, then won 15-4 over the host Brandon.Only one game Saturday for the 18U Portage team. They face Macdonald at 11 a.m.
