Another Portage Collegiate Institute Trojan has signed on the play football after his final year with the school.

17-year-old Jeff Ducharme has signed to play for the Canadian Junior Football League's Winnipeg Rifles next season. He's excited to be carrying on his football career and explains it all started toward the end of this season.

"I got an invite in November after the championship game at Investor's Group Field, I'm a defensive end and I'm not exactly sure why they decided to choose me but I like to hit guys and I'll give it my all."

Ducharme's first year of football came back when he signed up for the Portage Pitbulls' peewee team.

"I started off with the Pitbulls and then joined the Trojans as soon as I hit Grade 9. I always wanted to carry on my football career after the Trojans and now I'll get to do that. It's pretty exciting."

He'll be suiting up for the club come training camp toward the end of July. He's looking forward to the opportunity.
