The PCI Trojans were winners last night on the ice in Portage la Prairie.

They snuck out a 3-2 win over Morris at the PCU Centre in the Zone 4 Hockey League. Matt Boychuck scored the game-winning goal halfway through the 3rd period and left the game due to injury with just over 5 minutes to go in the frame. He was the victim of a direct head hit that saw his helmet fly about 10 feet in the air. Boychuck bounced right up from the ice and seemed to be alright heading off, but he did not return. Trojans' Layne Rintoul and Curran Ice also picked up goals in the victory.

Head Coach Chris DeLong shares his thoughts on their performance.

"We gave it hard for 2 good periods. The second one was an iffy one but they sucked it up and came out with a really good strong effort in the 3rd."

Cody Williams picked up the win between the pipes. DeLong says the second wasn't his best period but he really came through in the clutch.

"He made up for it super in the last minute, especially the last 10 seconds. They had a lot of pressure on and he made some huge saves, really saved our bacon."

Portage and Morris face off again next week in Morris Wednesday night.
