The PCI Trojans are on the diamond tonight for their opening game of the Zone 4 High School baseball season.

PCI was scheduled to begin this season on Monday against Altona, but that game was rescheduled due to poor field conditions. The Trojans are taking on Garden Valley Zodiacs in Winkler, and Head Coach Jay Dewis feels the extra practices will be beneficial.

"Yeah, I think so. I think we're ready to go, we've had some good workouts and been outside an extra time which is always beneficial going into the year."

Trojans Grade 11 pitcher Jayson Brooks says everyone's pretty excited to get on the field after Monday's cancellation.

Brooks

"Everyone's pumped up. We were a little disappointed we couldn't play that last game as everyone was pretty ready to go, but it should be good.

He lists a few benefits to the time off.

"We got to get a little more practice in and work on a couple of skills like batting, fielding, taking a couple extra ground balls and just getting outside."

Game 1 of the double header starts at 4:15 in Winkler.
