A fire in Treherne devastated a building this morning that was a longtime landmark in the community since the second world war. Municipality of Norfolk Treherne Reeve Craig Spencer witnessed the blaze.

"I went down there and there were three fire departments fighting a fire at the corner of Main and Portage of our small town of Treherne, " says Spencer. "It was Greening Welding Manufacturing. The building's existed since probably the end of the second world war, or shortly after. It originally was a Ford dealership."

Spencer says he arrived to see flames 50 feet over the roof of the tin-sided structure. He adds the three local fire departments successfully managed to prevent neighbouring buildings from getting damaged, but the building was completely lost.
