Portage La Prairie School Division superintendent Todd Cuddington continues to meet with members of the community.

Recently, he met with Eagles Fire Youth Centre manager Cornell Pashe and notes there's plenty of good stuff happening there. Cuddington explains he's looking at ways to continue to develop a relationship to support indigenous students.

"When we look at provincial results we know that there's room for us to support students to bring their literacy and numeracy rates up and a lot of that is going to be supported by working with organizations like Eagles Fire."

He adds this is a big area the school board wants to pursue.

Cuddington also recently had an introductory meeting with Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen.

"[I] wanted to give her a little bit of an update on some of the things that were happening in the division, and of course introduce myself. We had a nice conversation about some of the things that she was doing to support the community, so we just shared back and forth."

He adds it was very positive.
