For the past four years, the Green family has held an annual fundraiser to end MS and yesterday saw the fifth annual event held at the Fountain Tire in Portage la Prairie.

Sheila Green is one of the organisers of the fundraiser and she explains why they do it.

"It's a family-run fundraiser for the Green family. Our dad was struggling with MS for eight years, we lost him in February of this year so this is the first year without him. But we will carry on the fundraiser every year in his honour."

The fundraiser featured a barbeque, silent auction, bake sale, live music performed by Garry Lepine & Friends, cars from Cruisin' the PLAP and a jewellery sale which Green says was something new this year. She notes all the prizes for the silent auction and the baking for the sale were donated by friends and family and local businesses. Green says they really appreciate all the support from the community they receive each year and for Fountain Tire graciously donating the venue year after year.

Year to date the Green family has raised over $21,000 for the MS Society.
