Students at Langruth Elementary School used teamwork and some muscle power to raise funds for the Terry Fox National School Run event last month. Principal Steven Williams says this year he challenged students to pull one of the Pine Creek school division's largest school buses right through Langruth, noting on September 28th each of the classes did just that. Williams says many community members came out to support the kids, while the RCMP and local fire department also came out to cheer the students on and provide traffic control as well. He notes the bus was quite heavy, so in order to get it going they really had to put some muscle into it. Williams adds even the kindergarten/one/two class had the opportunity to pull it and they actually succeeded, so it was a good team effort by all.

He says students had been collecting funds for several weeks and also letting their parents know about this event, noting money is still trickling in and so far they've raised over a thousand dollars. Williams adds it was such a success that they're considering doing something even bigger next year. He says it was great to help raise awareness for the legacy of Terry Fox and hopefully this will continue for years to come.
