You've heard of a baby shower, but have you ever heard of a puppy shower? Portage Animal Welfare Society Director of Fundraising Stephanie Arnott hosted the event and she explained to us what the event was.

"Willow's puppy shower is an opportunity for the public to come meet the puppies and see if one will meet their lifestyle," says Arnott. "We have eight puppies here today and they're all Willow's."

Willow and her puppies along with another pregnant dog were abandoned at the tree disposal site just outside of Portage and PAWS has been in custody of them ever since. The sudden influx of puppies meant that the organization was stretched thin but the success of this event will surely bring a sigh of relief.

"Turnout's been really good," says Arnott. "We've had quite a few applications already. The goal is to have an application on every puppy so that they can go to their forever homes the week of the 26th. We're still looking for applications on Willow but all the puppies look like they're going to find a home. Any puppies that don't have applications in will be posted on our Facebook and website."
