It could be a packed weekend if you're planning on hitting any of Manitoba's beautiful provincial parks.

This weekend is set to be one of the busiest on the summer calendar as the Manitoba government celebrates Canada's Parks Day with free entry to provincial parks. It's important to remember park vehicle permits will not be required for admission to provincial parks this weekend, nightly camping fees still apply.

"As Manitobans, we spend much of the year looking forward to summer when we can really experience the beauty of our provincial parks," said Sustainable Development Minister Cathy Cox. "I encourage everyone to use this weekend to explore this great province and visit your favourite park again or perhaps visit somewhere you've never been before."

You can get the beach fix you're looking for by heading north to Saint-Ambroise Beach Provincial Park. It's a great place to go for a swim, picnic, or boat ride. Camping is not permitted at Saint Ambroise Beach. Spruce Woods Provincial Park isn't that far to the west of Portage la Prairie. There's a lot of great activities to take part in at Spruce Woods like cycling, Swimming, camping, canoeing, hiking, and horseback riding.

Whatever your plan for the weekend is prepare accordingly. Bring an emergency travel kit wherever you go, and expect delays during peak travel times this weekend.
