A new group exhibition's on display at the Portage and District Arts Centre's main gallery. Three local artists came together after having been part of the Centre for several years. The exhibition's called Fixtures, reflecting on the artists' long history with the culture of PDAC and the arts in Portage.

"They didn't come up with a theme," says marketing and events coordinator Lee Beaton. "They just wanted to showcase what each of them was passionate about. So, they did their own thing but it works so well together. When you look at this you're not seeing three different exhibitions. You're seeing one, solid exhibition with some really incredible pieces."

Beaton says Annette Henderson has mixed media and found-object art, Sharon Green's acrylic paintings are there, and John Nielsen's photography's displayed making the overall exhibit entirely phenomenal. She adds patrons demonstrate amazement and inspiration as they enter the gallery, and have been asking many questions.

She explains part of the art is interactive, and there's a completely different feel in the gallery with these pieces.

The opening for the exhibition is Thursday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. An artist's talk will be given by Annette Henderson, with the Nielsen and Green on site as well. You can ask questions during the session.

Beaton appeals to everyone to sign the guestbook when you come, noting about 40 showed up but provided no signatures.
