When school resumes next month, the Portage School Division will be sporting four new buses. Superintendent Todd Cuddington talks about what's happening with the new additions.

"We'll allocate those out according to the highest need," he says. "Then we'll graduate some of those older buses out of our fleet, and just use them for parts."

Cuddington says the new buses, and the existing fleet, will equipped with something new.

"We've equipped all of our buses with bus cameras and GPS monitoring," he says. "The fact that we'll have all of the buses equipped with cameras, and the GPS, is a huge change for our division, we've never done that before. It'll just add another layer of safety and security for our riders."

Cuddington describes the buses.

"They are Bluebird gasoline engines, the same as the other buses that we purchased last year," he says, "They've been checked out through Pupil Transportation, and approved for usage. That's an arm of the Public Schools Branch."
