We're still experiencing some nasty weather conditions across southern Manitoba, thanks to system that moved into the region yesterday.

Environment Canada's Natalie Hasell says it's a very intense low pressure system that's centred around Berens River. She says Portage la Prairie's on the edge of the system, which may be good news for us.

"So, today, we're expecting periods of snow and blowing snow," she says, "We're only expecting another 5 cm today, but the winds are going to remain quite strong today, tonight, even into tomorrow, so blowing snow will be more of a concern for the area."

Hasell expects we'll feel the system's effects for a while yet.

"The low pressure system should start moving off, and slowly dissipating, some time tomorrow. So, we're looking at the periods of light snow in Portage ending some time in the morning. You'll still have blowing snow in the morning tomorrow, as well. We're expecting those conditions to start improving during the day tomorrow, but the conditions start to get quite cold."
