A 14-year-old male youth faces multiple charges after police responded to a break and enter in progress Sunday afternoon, the RCMP says.

RCMP Const. Sean O'Keefe says officers were dispatched to Avenue Honda Polaris in Portage la Prairie around 12:45 p.m. after a person was observed cutting a fence to enter a compound at the business. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and were told by a bystander the suspect had fled on foot. The witness pointed officers in the direction the male youth fled and he was arrested a short distance away.

O'Keefe notes no property was reported stolen and the only damage sustained was to the fence compound.

The youth will appear before the courts on charges of breaking and entering, mischief to property over $5,000 and possession of break and enter tools.
