The Portage Phillies are starting their week off on a high note. This weekend the Phillies won two out of four games in a cash tournament in Winkler. Portage scored wins over Notre Dame and host Winkler, while losing to Devil's Lake in the third contest. Yesterday afternoon, in their fourth match up the Phillies were deadlocked at five with Gladstone, before being rained out, leaving the game a draw.

Phillies' pitcher, Gregg Waldvogel, says the collective team offense is really hitting its stride with over 30 runs scored in three games during the weekend. He adds there were some individual efforts at the plate that were outstanding in Winkler as well, which he says is really encouraging for their season in the Winnipeg Men's Fastball League.

Originally slated for action this Thursday against Hollow Water, the Phillies will get a bye week due to that game being postponed. That contest versus the Winnipeg based club will be made up in July.
