This past Saturday, the Big Bike made its rounds in Portage la Prairie.

Big Bike is a fundraising event held every year by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, where multiple people ride one giant bike. Chad Foulliard is the community engagement coordinator for the Foundation, and says this event really helps bring the community together.

"It shows how involved people are in the community, " says Foulliard. "And not only that, but I know for a lot of these individual teams. The idea of them coming on board was they knew somebody that has struggled with heart and stroke-related issues. "

Foulliard notes 16 teams took turns hopping on the giant bike, and in Portage they raised over $8000.

There were also Big Bikes in MacGregor and Austin, but their figures are unavailable.

Last year across Canada the Big Bike event raised 7 million dollars.
