Canadian Blood Services are setting up a donation clinic in Portage tonight (Monday) and now's your time to make a difference.

Holly Mason is a Portage resident and blood donor. She tells us why she gives blood.

"It was because my nephew was diagnosed with cancer two weeks before his 11th birthday," says Mason. "I knew he would need help, and he would need the blood."

According to the CBS website, every 60 seconds someone in Canada needs blood. Mason talks about what it's like to donate blood.

"When you go to donate blood the nurses are very friendly and very helpful, and they talk you through everything," says Mason. "They pretty much tell you what is going to happen and when it's going to happen."

The Clinic runs from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Canad Inns. Mason calls donating blood very rewarding.

"When you donate blood you know that you're helping somebody and you'll feel great knowing that you have helped somebody."
