The local soup kitchen has experienced a change in co-ordinators. Margaret McNutt-Reichelt has been leading the effort for just over a month, and shared some of the details she's been learning in her position.

"It's been interesting. It's been challenging, I've discovered that there aren't a lot of extra volunteers, so we're looking for volunteers. We rely on donations for bread and baked goods, and those just aren't there right now. So, we're looking at having to purchase bread and baked goods, which adds to the expenses of the soup kitchen. We're also looking at finding funding."

McNutt-Reichelt adds, it's not all bad news though, and noted some of the ways people have helped out so far.

"I have to admit, it's been amazing.  We've recieved donations from different organizations, from businesses and from individuals. By word of mouth largely, we've ended up with a number of new volunteers. So it's been exciting in some ways and challenging in others."

The soup kitchen is open every weekday from 11:30 to 12:30, and she explains, if you'd like to get involved, they are in need of people to fill one particular position.

"In the soup kitchen, on a day-to-day basis, we have a soup kitchen Leader who organizes things for the day, and then there are three-to-four helpers. We're short on the soup kitchen leader side of things. So I'm hoping that, in this new group of volunteers, there will be some that will step up to be soup kitchen leaders."
