The 2024 Juvenile National Broomball Championships are underway at stride place in Portage la Prairie. 17 teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec are competing in the 4-day event. Cameryn Dunning from McCreary has played with Team Manitoba Girls for several years, she is proud to be a provincial host and ambassador for the sport.

" A lot of people just fly over Manitoba, and we have a lot to offer here. Familiar faces in the crowd are always a great thing to see too; grandparents, aunts, uncles they all come out and it's awesome. Not many people know about broomball and it's good to get it out and it's good to spread the word to grow the sport because it truly is one of the best sports to play."

Dunning and her team-mate Abby Maczuga from Glenella say they were both introduced to broomball by family members who play. Broomball is played on an ice surface, and Maczuga highlights the importance of a good pair of shoes to ensure grip on the ice. Both players are looking forward to strong competition and an opportunity to showcase the sport in Portage la Prairie.

Portage la Prairie last hosted the National Broomball Championships in 2018, all games are livestreamed
