The AA Softball provincial tournament has come and gone and the Central Charge has won it all.

Head coach Keith Graham says they felt pretty confident going into the tournament but had to battle the conditions as well as the opposition, as they had quite the scorching weekend to play through. He says it was a tough final against Eastman, but they were able to pull through and take it 13-12.

"We got up by quite a few runs early in the game, but they're a gritty team, so they battled back," explains Graham. "In the 7th inning, we finally pulled it off and got the win."

The team consists of players from Portage la Prairie, Carman, Morden, Miami, Winkler, Notre Dame de Lourdes, and Morris.

He adds the final run was a sacrifice fly pulled off by Samara Hildebrand, which allowed Sophie Cenerini to sprint from 3rd base to clinch the championship. The team had a successful, albeit short, regular season, finishing with a record of 12-4.

"It was a huge way to finish," says Graham. "The girls played hard throughout the year, so for them to be rewarded is quite an accomplishment."
