A new format was introduced at today's Portage and District Chamber of Commerce quarterly luncheon.

The event had a networking theme, where those attending were seated according to a draw of table numbers.

President Anita Janzen-Gemmel says it was to encourage networking, and believes using the format regularly is worth thinking about. She received positive feedback on how it eliminated awkwardness in being seated.

Janzen-Gemmel notes the theme idea came from a board member, after surveys sent out over a month and a half indicated the Chamber is seen as a good networking opportunity.

The luncheon also heard a presentation about a satellite simulcast called "Advance" from Maximum Impact, April 18th at the Glesby Centre. Janzen-Gemmel notes the Chamber is excited because this seminar focuses on leaders and encourages thinking outside the box.
